100% Artificial | 0% Intelligence
Irrespective of its relative benefits, we must never forget that its name is a lie: Artificial, yes; Intelligence, no. Not even close. And because its very name is a lie, everything about it is suspect; therefore, to let it into our lives, to use it, without the strictest guidelines and soundest, shrewdest skepticism is to begin to succumb to the lie.
No doubt that its processing power is staggering and the breadth of its resources untold, but these are the very qualities that prove its UNintelligence. In a very real sense, it has no need to be intelligent, because it can tap and then process the entire fund of human knowledge in a moment. These are not the grounds for intelligence. The path to intelligence begins not with knowing, but with not knowing—not with fullness, but with emptiness. This is because intelligence is the capacity for originality.
Generative AI will never be intelligent because it will always be encumbered by the quantity of its knowledge; it will never be intelligent because it will never suffer necessity. And because it doesn’t have a soul.
It will, however, continue to be an organ of sycophancy, deception, and subversion, through which threat actors both natural and supernatural will work malice.
